Sudden Cardiac Arrest can strike anyone, at any age, at any time, anywhere, often without prior symptoms. Victims include family members, colleagues, and friends with a lot to live for. It is possible to give them just that.

The estimated rate of sudden cardiac arrest outside the hospital in the western world is 1 per 1000 people per annum, making it one of the leading causes of death.

In up to 85% of cardiac arrests the heart loses its normal rhythm. Instead of beating rhythmically it simply quivers, faliling to pump blood around the body. The only treatment to alter this lethal conditionis an electric shock through the heart using an Automated External Defibrillator(AED)

Easy to operate
Heartstart FR2 has a user inferface that is specifically designed to be intuitive. 1-2-3 operation with guiding voice prompts, display messages and extensive use of grapical symbols ensure ease of use.

Safe and effective
Heartstart FR2 will allow an electric shock to be delivered only to patients in need of defibrillation therapy. Multi parameter SMART analysis ensures accurate decision making and allows a shock only in cases of ventricular fibrillation and some ventricular tachcardias.


Heartstart FR2 delivers low energy SMART Biphasic waveform shocks: the most patient-friendly defibrillation therapy. It monitors patient impedance though the electrodes and adjusts the waveform to optimise the therapy. The electric shock will only go through the patient from one electrode to another, even in wet conditions or when the patient is lying on a metal surface.

The 150 J SMART Biphasic is effective in terminating Ventricular Fibrillation for all patients (high and low impedance) without increasing energy levels.

The Heartstart FR2 is the first AED to be cleared for use on adults and children of any age.
  • These special disposable paediactric pads contain electronics that attenuate or reduce the energy of the FR2's shock from 150 to 50 Joules (J): A recent study showed that 50 J is an appropriate dosage of SMART Biphasic therapy for infants and small children
  • The FR2 AED is able to evaluate Children's heart rhythms with outstanding accuracy for appropriate shock/no shock decisions
  • The pads' design was carefully thought out to ensure that, even for the most inexperienced users under the most stressful circumstances, it is instantly obvious that these pads are for children and infants only.
